Slight twist.. Not a what car thread: A what TWO cars thread

Currently, me and the other half: Her, 2010 Aygo. Me a 2007 535D.

Half thinking of chopping both in to be replaced with another two which serve the same purposes, with similar overall running costs, but a bit more net fun

Budget for the both £15-20k (approx current value plus a smidge).
Both must seat 2 adults + small child
At least one must weigh circa 1500kgs+ and be homologated for towing
At least one must be usable as a 'daily' for the missus with 30+mpg
At least one should be a bit 'PH'
It would also be nice if one was a convertible!

no idea they'd become so cheap (the jag), still - i'm open to the budget being shifted one way or the other between the two cars. Bit bewildered by choice!

Late model Rover Mini Cooper-Sport. £6-7k for a reliable, low mileage example. Injection and long diff means around 40mpg. Quick (not fast, different thing) plenty of fun and still great attention grabbers. Leaves you the better part of 10k for a bigger cruiser/tower.

Not sure that my bulk would make good friends with a Rover Mini, and i think the missus would insist on something a bit more modern, done the BMW Mini thing before, and didnt dislike it, but fancy something different...
