Trade ins - sure. But where else? Auctions?

I'm looking for another car now and there are a lot of traders who operate from home but under a business. Curious where they're getting their cars from...

Trade ins
Auctions
Motability, a good source of fully serviced three year old cars however they are too expensive
Ex hire cars bought directly from Enterprise, for example
Approved used cars obtained directly from the manufacturer's approved used scheme
Trade ins traded at a rival dealer of a different manufacturer
People just selling their cars
From the manufacturers finance company, usually end of lease, VT's, repossessions or hand backs

I think that lot covers it.

Just after I left school I worked as a cleaner/general assistant for a local motor dealer and I was invited to one of the bigger auctions he went to to get some insight. It was an auction especially for ex-rental cars which was held only a few times a year. There were so many cars on that field in the middle of nowhere it was like those pictures of piled up unregisted 75s after Rover closed.
