remapped diesel running biodiesel question....

Theres a garage on the way to the gym that sells bio diesel for £1.04 a litre which when compared to £1.439 a litre is a bargain!
However my car has a remap (albeit not the best hp gains but then didnt pay much for it ) so would i be fine running bio diesel?
Not constantly but thought the odd tank full just to save a few pennies here and there

Depends on the car. Most modern diesels don't like it so much.

He did say a garage selling bio-diesel which as i understand it has the same viscosity as normal diesel, SVO on the other hand is another matter and your advice may be true.

If you want to run bio-disel, buy an old Pug or Merc that doesn't inject at 2000bar...

Should be fine if its proper biodiesel and not used chip fat that hasn't been mixed with anything to stop it clogging.

On that note, im looking at 406 diesels (the eyeball melting 90bhp model) for some bargin shedding, how do they take biofuel/chip fat/etc ?

Mate of mine does that with a 306 D (non-turbo) - it runs on virtually anything that will burn - oil, bio diesel, veg, engine oil, creosote etc.

No idea on that specific car. I know 1.5d 106s run on it fine so I expect it would be the same!

Most new cars aren't happy to run on anything with more than a 5% bio-diesel mix.

Saying that, a colleague of mine makes his own bio-diesel (to perfect quality, it costs him almost as much as pump diesel) and he ran a 1.5d Quashqui on it for a couple of years with no adverse affects.

I suppose it depends on the quality of the bio-diesel, not worth the risk for a modern car IMO, lots of horror stories out there and I know mechanics who have stripped engines that have failed due to using bio-diesel/veg oil. Apparently everything gets clogged with gunk!

With the Peugeot / Citroen XUD Diesels it depends on which fuel injection system they have. The Bosch one is fine but you can't run bio with the Lucas one.
