RAC - AA - Green Flag?
Discussion
Being the proud owner of a TVR now I feel I should buy a new membership to one of these.
I do have all singing and dancing breakdown cover with the RAC, but I have a no claims bonus that predates Methuselah. I"m saving that for any big problems I may have on the continent with an old car. So its cheaper for me to get a very simple membership sub £100 that I can actually use.
All I'm looking for is vehicle recovery. If it breaks down and I cant fix it at the side of the road, I want it dragging back to my house.
Who do you guys use? Any recommendations?
I dont mind if they turn up with a donkey and a bit of old rope, as long as they do.

The Rescue Service. We have ours through A-Plan. £75 for the year and they've been superb.
1. Had a flat battery, they came out and took the car to my local garage where it was replaced.
2. Picked my wife up stuck at the side of the M1 within the hour of the call in pouring rain and drove her back to Teesside (around 3 hours). Put the car on the drive, which is no mean feat at our house from a low loader and made sure she got in the house OK and was safe.
3. As far as I can work out, don't have limits on the number of callouts per year.
Won't use anyone else now, they've never let me down.

No claims is worthless on breakdown, it's a scam.
Change each year and take a new policy, far cheaper than any supposed discount.
Single mid level cover was offered at £89
I cancelled and bought a joint policy, higher cover for £50
Same company.
I pay over £200 a year but the cover I have is no longer available, so I have to continue it. No one else will cover a 100 year old car in Europe. Change each year and take a new policy, far cheaper than any supposed discount.

Just had a look at the website, they have a picture of a TVR on their homepage. Must be a good sign! 1. Had a flat battery, they came out and took the car to my local garage where it was replaced.

Thought that was a typo, then I checked your profile! For something like that I wouldn't be too concerned on price. Find someone that will offer the service level you need.

Thats not the problem, i don't mind paying a lot for that. For something like that I wouldn't be too concerned on price. Find someone that will offer the service level you need.

ADAC and 'free' european cover
How do you do this? i travel frequently in Europe and beyond and this would be useful!there are a few threads on here about it do a search

go to website - get phone number ask for english speaker - I think full cover is about £90 incl spouse. If you have a breakdown in UK its just subcontracted to AA/RAC. Don't have it personally but read enough about it to warrant doing it when my RAC cover is due to renew.

Cheers, I'll have a beak around.there are a few threads on here about it do a search
The AA is my choice as they cover you and not just the car. It doesn't matter if you are only the passenger in a friends car, you are always covered and this has proved handy a couple of times. To that effect i chose them over the RAC who at that time only covered your car. To be fair this may have changed now.
However, avoid Green Flag. In the early 2000's they 'lost' my 200SX s14 for 3 days somewhere in London. That sort of put me off them for good!
