Suggest a 50 mpg + car under 7 yrs old - up to £10k?

I am looking at replacing my Mercedes C32 Amg, it's a great car and I know I will miss the power but doing 15K miles a year and having a 24MPG (on the trip computer) average isn't the brightest idea...

My car isnt now in the very best condition and I think it will be a lot easier to just trade the car in and suck up what they offer me for it. (I imagine 2-3K

So I am looking at some ideas of cars to replace mine. Something with a bit of oomph as well would be nice but not obligatory.

I prefer something that looks quite nice and professional going to clients - and isn't too small as I have to take some photographic equipment around for my work.

I will be eventually adding a weekend/ social car/toy along the lines of a 996 turbo or GTR so this doesn't have to be a kill all birds with one stone type car.

Sounds like a small engined diesel rep-mobile is probably the best bet. Something like a 320d.

320d all day long. Plenty of go, nice handling and one of the best diesel engines out there.

Ours is averaging 55mpg since we got it (It will be for sale soon, but 2010 model with loads of toys so over your budget sadly!)
