Sigh - I know these threads are universally lame, but I thought I'd help canvas opinions for my bro'.

Budget: £5k, IRO anyway
Must - have 4 doors to enable the carrying of him, wife, eldest kid (11) and youngest (few weeks)
Will need space for car seat and all that kinda kid stuff along with a reasonable boot
Only drives circa 7k miles a year, and almost all that is small city commutes.
Insurance should be ok as 10 years no claims and reasonable postcode
Reasonable performance - current car is c.7sec to 60, but something below 8.5 should be ok?

I can ony, very boringly, think of a Civic - anyone who knows a bit more give a hand?

One of these, with change. I can't recommend them highly enough.
