I've been on bikes for the last few years, but due to a pretty serious coming together with a moron in a people carrier I've now got to go back to a car for my daily hack / bit of fun.

However, I've only got two or three grand to play with, and want something with that bit of cool about it, but not something that'll cost to run over the 250 miles I do each week.

So - any ideas?

(Note, I'm 6'5" so don't fit in an MX5)

I was thinking MK2 pref a turbo there's some beauty's for well below your budget... Cars are good for well over 100,000 miles, cheap to run, parts no problem

I reckon most 306's are probably on their last legs. Mine old gti6 didn't feel very solid and that was 5 years ago. It was good fun but I reckon for 3k you could do better. Saying that what about a cheap 106 rallye and spent a bit on making it tight?

What about an older shape Skoda vrs either octavia or fabia. A 150 bhp golf? Classic impreza? If you can fuel it.
