Rover K Series Starter Noise

Hi all,

I know there are plenty of chaps here knowledgeable about the K series engines, so I have a question.

Why does the K series (let's take the 1.8 litre variant) have a different starter noise in different cars? I don't mean it sounds different in the 45/75 respectively, but some 1.8 45s sound different when starting to others

Any ideas?
