Hi

I'm looking around for a smaller pick-up than the big 4WD that are easily found (the Hilux, Rangers etc). Just a two-seater...

The only one I've come across is the Proton Jumbuck - sounds gggreeaaat I know - but it's out of production (by popular/lack-of demand?)

Are there any others out there? I've searched around but can't see anything... any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine, who is a bit of a piston head has had a Jumbuck for about 4 years, as a light work horse/shopping trolley, & has put a lot of miles on it.

He liked it so much that he has now bought another low mileage one to replace the first one.

They do a 2wd version of the Hilux.

Mitsubishi do a 4work range, you can get an L200, still 4WD, but 2 seats and a lot less blingy things on there.

Ford Ranger is available as a 2WD 2 door...

You have to be a bit careful of the speed limits with 2wd pick ups - they don't get the same exemption that 4wd crew cabs get.

Mate has a 2wd Ranger pickup he paid bugger all for on e-bay, it's a bombproof shed! I expect the Mazda version is also available.

Not sure if they still do L200 2WDs (I've seen a few older ones) and Hilux as shown do a 2wd.

Don't think there are many 'Small' newish pickups about now unless you fancy...

I think they stopped the two wheel drive L200 with the last generation. I had a friend who had one and loved it though. I never thought much of my four wheel drive example, although it did have it's qualities.

Dad had 2 Skoda Pickups, they were good little trucks and cheap to run. To be honest, there are loads of small vans available and most of the time they are more practical, not to mention secure.

Loved seeing these in Oz, rare here in the UK but did see one yesterday on the A420 near Swindon.

My favourite new car, if only because it's seriously mad!

What's it's intended use ?

I can't see the point of pickups that have tiny beds as you can't get anything in them (like the majority of the crew cabs) but I do building work so regularly move 8x4 sheets and 4.8m lengths of timber.

Have a real soft spot for these. Always thought a bit of a modern clean look modding would suit them.
