I've been driving for 11 years now and my attention was drawn to several items:

- I started off slightly relieved to be driving my girlfriend's Mini as my back is knackered and getting in and out of the Evora has been a bit of a gip recently

- I swear learner drivers are getting younger, as I saw one and he was obviously no more than twelve

- I saw a few cars that several of my friends had owned brand new when I started driving and they all looked ancient, rusty and clapped out

- I had a classic car as my first car, yet I saw something of a similar vintage and compared to everything around it, it could only have looked older if it had gas lamps and running boards

Now I'm only 28, but it has made me aware of the slow march towards being a decrepid curmudgeon boring his grandchildren with tales of clutch pedals, manual gearboxes and how cars were better without ABS and ESP.

Anyone else feel old while driving and why?

Might as well be with a knackered back, indestructible beer gut and a general hatred for everything and everyone, although with the last one I might just be spending too much time on PH hehe

I feel much the same every time a new load of new graduates turn at at work.

At this rate I'm sure they'll be sending us primary school kids within the next couple of years.

It's when you need a car to make you feel young, that you are old...

I constantly think I'm the only person not looking down, texting or putting on makeup.

I also have a Fiesta ST at the age of 53 and rather wish Ford had made a 2 litre Fiesta (ideal for my needs) with 4 doors and a normal exterior. I keep thinking I should be driving a luxury barge like people of my age think they should.

I now think of my first cars as classics even though they were just normal bangers at the time.

However, I also think of myself as being a round 30...

I'm sort of hoping that rather than having a midlife crisis, I'll do the same as the old man and cease to care about what anyone thinks.

He drives around perfectly content in his 997 Turbo looking not unlike Father Jack hehe

Maybe that's why your getting old. I could stand in and crash more effectively on your behalf.

Have you been stalked when getting your dry cleaning sorted yet?

In all seriousness I think my back is knackered from some sort of combination of RSI and whiplash from getting hit up the back so often hehe

Not yet, although I have had someone look up my address and deliver a hand written note through my door though, which was a touch unsettling!!
