Temporary Insurance
Discussion
Having some work done on a car and have a loan car from the garage.
I rang my insurer and they've charged £93 for 28 days cover. It's an X-reg Mazda 626, but (on a pro-rata basis) is costing me about triple an Aston Martin DB7 V12 to insure!
Is there a cheap way to insure a car you don't own for a short period of time?

That seems quite cheap to me. I rang my insurer and they've charged £93 for 28 days cover. It's an X-reg Mazda 626, but (on a pro-rata basis) is costing me about triple an Aston Martin DB7 V12 to insure!

When I've looked for similar cars for a month it was usually more..!
ETA the question. Yes, go on the insurance of the owners policy; if there is one.
Loan cars have always been covered by the garages insurance for me, but I guess 28 days is quite a long time - it might exceed their policy.
£93 isn't that bad; some companies will just add both on for a lower fee on the basis that your other car isn't in use, and therefore is low risk.
What did you ask the insurer for? To add the Mazda, or to give a temp cover note for your other car which is out of use?

cancelation of a full policy within 14 days is something like £25 iirc. I rang my insurer and they've charged £93 for 28 days cover. It's an X-reg Mazda 626, but (on a pro-rata basis) is costing me about triple an Aston Martin DB7 V12 to insure!
