Thank you, AutoTrader!
Discussion
To be fair before this feature was around I reported the one of the good old "I live in Spain but cant sell my car here because its right hand drive so I'll put it in a container" ads to the general autotrader help address.
Got a response from someone saying that they will deal with it and it was down within a couple of hours.

Long over due!
I'm surprised they've done this, they've shown little or no interest in blatant scams when I've taken the time to report them before. When looking for my last car, almost without exception, every car had a "dont call, just e-mail me" ad. They have/had to clear this up.

wow, some poor person at autotrader has to get bombarded with these email alerts all day long, and remove the ad or ignore the complaint!
And your point is?The problem is these types of sellers are always going to find ways around these systems no matter how well automated or manually managed they are.
Altho this is a good step on AT part, come 3+ months these sellers will be employing various other tricks.
Something like this is quite easy to automate. For example you can could set it up to automatically remove every listing that gets more than say 20 spam reports. To avoid abuse of removing competitors listings you could also set it up to automatically email the person who listed the advert, and tell them why its been removed. This can explain that they are welcome to re-list it but do so with a properly complaint ad. And that if they feel their ad has been removed in error they should reply to the email to have it dealt with by a human.
That would instantly solve all the crap advert problems and take a fraction of the man power of reviewing every single spam complaint.

We've had a report button for a long time now, I though AT has had one displayed for ages too? I've never noticed it before.
I emailed them a few weeks ago about moving their scroll forward and back images arrows so that they were outside of the image instead of being over the top of them. I thought the whole point of AT was the pictures of the cars, sellers or buyers don't benefit from having a greying, not quite transparent right or left arrow over the top of them. I want to see cars, not arrows.
