What did you replace it with? Are you glad you changed?

I'm currently pondering what could be the replacement for mine, without spending a fortune, and am curious as to the upgrade path others have taken.

Thanks smile

I would not worry, the only way is up after the ST220.

I'm pretty sure it reviewed well as a driver's car!

Got to be more interesting than the dieselboxes driven by 50% of us.

hehe

The only one I've given serious consideration to is a Monaro, but it might be a while before I make the jump.

What about moving to RWD? Merc? E55's etc are pretty thick on the ground for reasonable moolah.

How did you find the 350Z in comparison? This is a car that's on my "possibles" list

I had to move to something a little less thirsty so went down the BMW diesel route, first a 530d, then a 335d, and back to a 330d.

I still miss my ST220 it was a cracking car, if I wasn't doing the mileage, I'd still have it.

For someone who frequently berates people for posting useless st, this is somewhat ironic.

Replaced mine with a Focus ST3, needed a hatch and my 220 was a saloon and didn't want to swap for another 220. Initially disappointed with the ST3, no where near as good a spec, no climate, cruise, auto lights, wipers etc and didn't really feel any quicker and just as thirsty. Subsequently had it Mountune converted and it's a completely different car to drive but still lacking in the extras. Don't really think you will find a natural replacement matching the cost/performance/spec and age equation.

I went to a Saab 9-3 2.8T and had it mapped. 300hp/390lbft.

The fuel consumption of the ST220 never bothered me, but it bothered me for the performance on offer. The Saab was just as good on fuel whilst being hugely faster.

The Saab was very point and squirt, didn't handle like the ST220 but never regretted it.

Loved mine, replaced it with a Saab 93 2.8V6 Aero, more oomph, but too small inside. Now getting a new A6, baaa biggrin

I had several ST mondeos but all diseasals. Now drive an Octavia vRS.

Comparable?

bags of room - check
well equipped - check
handles pretty good but not a sports car - check
cheap to buy and run - check
invisible to all but committe petrolheads - check
badge kudos zero - check

Yep, that about sums it up.

Check the smiley on my post fella. The OP had not had a bite, so I bumped his thread back to the start.

HTH and glad you take an interest in me.

As you were.

OP, my serious advice would be to make sure that whatever you get it offers a completely different driving experience, that way your driving fun will be less about comparisons. The 350 is probably the best shout on the thread.
