I'm obviously looking at one with a long MOT history and documented service history, one that drives well and rides well (although I am no mechanic!) and preferably one with 10+ months MOT.
I've seen a few, all seem to be around 1999-2003 age, most are petrol V6, all automatics. All sub £1200.
It's hard to explain, but I just have a big Omega-sized itch that I want to scratch. So, what are the things to look out for, what are the tell-tale signs of things about to go and what are the pro's/con's of the Omega.

i've just bought a 2000 x reg 2.5 v6 auto estate cd with history and 80k for £330, mot had just run out but took a chance on it and it went straight through its mot! should be a great winter/dog car, can't fault it so far apart from a leaky cam cover which is quite a common fault on the v6. i wouldn't bother getting one from a dealer as there are loads of good ones out there for sub 1k.
Very nice cars indeed.
Couple of common things:
As already mentioned the cam covers can leak which means a nice burning oily smell in the cockpit as the oil drips onto the manifolds.
Bottoms of the doors rust before anything else (and they do go quite extensively).
From the 2.5 V6 expect 25mpg average. Down to teens around town.
Waterpumps can go
Belts need changing at 40k (IIRC... may be wrong in this)
very comfy and planted cars though

Fantastic barges, the MV6 being the best of the lot. Look for CD/CDX/Elite spec if the MV6 is not for you. Select and GLS trims were fairly poverty spec by comparison.
