Insurance ! A little survey.
Discussion
I'm thinking about changing my car from a quick sports saloon to a slow 4x4.
I have a 156 v6 which I like but never having owned a 4x4 thought I might try one for a while, I particularly like the idea of having some on road fun in flood water.
However upon checking how much the insurance would be my current insurer would be £130 more per annum or an increase of 48%.
The 4x4 I used for the quote was a 2.0 petrol x-trail.
So did I just pick upon 2 cars one an insurance bargain and the other an expensive to fix high risk horror.
Or is it that 156 drivers tend to be able to handle a car properly and x trail drivers are clumsy ,accident prone school run mums that can't drive for toffee?
I could insure an x trail with another insurer for about the same as the alfa, however I am 3 days from renewal and don't want a huge hike if I were to change.
How many others have seen a price hike when swapping to a Lower performance car.
Yes I know it not just about performance but 48% seems like a big difference.
