Just throwing this out there, i've got 3 or 4 cars in mind but I thought it'd be fun to see what you guys come up with.

I'm not a fussy person in regard to cars fwd, rwd, awd, classic, new I like it all... but i'm not interested in kit cars.

This car is just for the track (not racing) and hill climbs (my local track is Loton Park).

Well a caterham is out so go buy something lardy

or a lotus 211 which is basically a factory built kitcar as it goes through exactly the same process

Are you trailering it or driving it on roads? If you arent driving it on the road, why not get something like an older Formula Ford?

Superlight Caterhams are probably the fastest cars on trackdays though, unless somebody turns up in a Radical.

Elise? Vx220? Breathed on Impreza/evo? volvo 850 biggrin?

Well if you want the best track car for the money it's a caterham. If it's a kit car and therefore not allowed because that's a bad thing for some reason, given that you're not using it for anything, then you're going to be slow smile

I'd keep an eye out for a powertec powered radical 2nd hand.

Although technically a kit the fabrication of a MEV mevabusa is impressive, and 400kgs with a 190hp hayabusa engine will go better than most other trackish cars at that price point.

It's got to be road legal however it will be trailered.

You all know the radical and caterham are kit cars, please don't suggest them! Think time attack style cars.

I like to have a tin roof, i'm also heavy on aesthetics and kit cars are very generic.

It's personal taste, if I wanted to race (which I don't) then i'd be interested. But i'm not.

You can give me all the reasons in the world why a kit car is better than a 1980's 911, but it wouldn't matter to me. A Caterham/Radical ain't got no soul brother, i'd rather own a built mk2 golf (which I do).

Although i'm going to contradict everything i've just said and admit a Cobra with a yank v8 is on my 'list', but for very different reasons... the 'mrs' has been pining for a convertible (she thinks we are getting an SLK next year).

So you don't like kitcars as they all look the same and aren't unique soulful piece of engineering like a golf

Mmmm okay

^^^ That 911 is lovely ^^^

He doesn't want a kit car, stop trying to change his mind. If he doesn't want one, he doesn't want one, simple.

What about one of these? -
