been tasked with helping my now retired, former doctor, father with getting a new car. currently he drives a 2.0 diesel 2007 Renault laguna. this I'd his 3rd laguna, previously had a scenic and only getting rid due to mileage. his annual mileage is in the region of 20k a year so diesel probably better but not to fussed,
looking at a 6 month old insignia (cars with 5 or 6 thousand on the clock) or one of the currently on offer skoda octavia's around the £12.5k mark. rather like the insignia and its a comfy ride. he's worried that the 2.2 mazda 6 would be high on tax, can't find out on the phone though. any other suggestions?

the coupe is very handsome.
Renault have spotted selling them in the UK otherwise another laguna would probably have been first choice. close to 300k with 3 of them and never had any real problems. the coupe is very handsome.
has to be 4 doors I'm afraid as my Gran its taken out in the car regularly so access is important.

tell me about. does a lot of miles add he is an active church member, of a church that's a 50 mike round trip away. Stays up north a lot so needs boot space to take luggage for 2, and 3 cats add they go with them. for this reason it needs to be a hatch back or estate (current laguna is estate). would only drive a manual,, doesn't need nav but it would be nice as he is used to it. budget around 12.5-13k new would be good but no problems with the idea of a low mileage 6 month/year old example.He's supposed to be chilling out a bit. Mine have gone for a Nissan Qashqai... step-up into the driver's seat for my Dad (bad back, can't bend easily), plenty of room for my Mum in the passenger seat, rear view camera, decent enough boot for trips to the tip, 4 doors for when their feckless sons visit them and want ferrying to the pub and so on. Honestly, it's a great car for them.

strong possibility, waiting on a message from one of the guys on the car salesman thread. sounds ideal really. i thought a juke but its slightly small boot wise, otherwise seemed perfect. shame the qashqui doesn't have the same distinctiveness of the juke but that's my preference not his.Been said but Skoda Superb would be perfect for him I'd have thought

Got picked up at Dublin airport by one of those a few years ago and was very impressed with it.
They have an umbrella secreted within the door don't they. Proper old man cool that.
