Right because im an actual wizard I will inform you of Renaults upcoming fortunes with the new Clio in the coming years. There will be a significant drop in sales compared to previous generations.. how do i know this? because its freaking ugly..dont even get me started on the auto only box... who cares if this thing did 0-9000 mph in 7 seconds..which it doesn't because it keeps eating more pies year after year...nobody is going to want to be seen in it. The sooner companies realise looks are insanely important the better... let me give you examples.. Scirocco.. instant success story.. is it really quick? nope not really, R has abit of poke but nothing to write home about .. looks like does it though and we love that... range rover Evoque? massive success.. why.. looks cool as ice upstages its bigger brother and is then the motoring equivalent of an iphone.. ferrari 458- no explanation needed.. just look at it and finally the new jaguar f-type, yeap you guessed it .. it's going to sell like cakes in a bakery next to a coffee house in Amsterdam.. why because it looks bloody fabulous.. it's not rocket science car companies, design us good looking cars and we will thank you with our hard earned cash. we will bloody buy them.
This is of course IMO.. but im going to stick my neck out here and say i speak on the majority of performance car enthusiasts.

The thing is companies constantly have to push to make something look "fresh" often this requires them to look a bit weird or alien at first.
A lot of cars don't look great the first time you see them but they soon grow on you.. In terms of hatchbacks the clio 200 and post 05ish civic type R are good examples IMO
I wouldn't say a lot of new cars are inherently ugly.. More they "play it safe" by giving current models a weirdish new face face-lift than really go all out and innovate what can easily be a hit or miss 'new design'

Some do grow on you but Im talking about the cars that are just really lovely looking.. have you seen the Alfa 4c the proposed 40k bmw rival.. even knowing how bad alfas are on the reliabilty front it makes me want to take that gamble.. so there's always a company thats going to play the.. were just going to play it safe, we'll build safe reliable cars albeit ugly, but were going to fill that gap we will leave that to alfa .. but this is a renault sport clio, it should be about the passion the looks and the cars capability around a track, the only thing that car looks capable of is replacing a trolley in your local supermarket. And even then i think i'd rather take the trolley and get my pound back.
Must say if looks were my #1 priority, I'd hardly buy a small hatchback in the first place. I like what my Cooper S does, but even as a brand new car it's hardly one that I go to the garage for just to look at it - unlike my TVR that I've owned for the best part of six years now.
People buy sporty hatchbacks because they need something practical/acceptable for significant others and/or the company car policy, and still want to have a bit of fun driving it. To me, as long as the aesthetics aren't embarrassing in a childish or low-rent sort of way, they're not the main driver in the buying process.

I've never owned a Clio Sport but it seems they've totally done a U-turn on the things that made it.
I can't help but imagine even the most die-hard Clio Sport enthusiasts are going to desert the brand in droves.
- Small, but handsome purposeful looking
- Powerful, rev happy N/A engine
- Chuckable!

k about looks. The Clio while not pretty isn't really less ugly than most hatchbacks and indeed most past Clios.And looks are highly subjective, personally I think the F-Type looks like a huge let down and is far from great looks (goes for all Jags these days

I do not believe anyone would consider it uglier than a juke! Only Korean cars are uglier!!!
I know a juke owner who placed an order, then had a "what have I done" moment when she picked it up
I'm not allowed to mention cars in front of her...
