The driving the F1 article was just sublime - both the words and the photos. Has anyone else replaced Evo with Octane?

Has Octane changed to more modern cars over the last year or so? I used to see it as a classic car type mag but it hasn't been like that recently.

Bored with EVO, bored with CAR, especially the terrible and drab 50th anniversary edition. I've read Octane a few times and been impressed. I'll have to check out this out.

Octane & Classic and Sports Car are my favourite (paper) mags nowadays.

Might give Octane a go, TopGear is The Beano and Evo has become very dull. Car was always very dull.

Yes this makes sense- for the last few years I have been buying it thinking to myself "this is an unusually non-classics Octane", d'oh!

Yes, I spotted the cover earlier and thought I'd take a look. Looking forward to the rest of the issue (bottle of good wine and a bath waiting at home!)

It's a common gripe with publishers these days that magazines go on the shelf before they reach subscribers. used to be that one of the advantages of subscribing was that you got the mag a few days early frown

I'll look forward to it, fortunatly I've already received MotorSport

I purchased it from a crappy convenience store in the suburbs of Edinburgh.

I stopped my evo subscription many years ago because it stopped me buying it when strolling through WH Smith days before it arrived on the doormat.

On the topic of evo, I'm finding PH uses my former Evo time with the weekly Harris video. I'm not quite sure what their market is now (not their forums, that's for sure).

As you say, Octane has changed over the years. I've been a reader since issue No 6 and a subscriber for many years. In the early days the letters page was wonderful, usually from some Capt or Major rtd. correcting an error in one of the previous edition's articles then going on to describe in some depth his experiences as riding mechanic in the 1934 Le Mans 24 Hours on a Morningside-Blenkinsop special... biggrin
