Evoque, Q5, X5 orTouareg, £30k

Anyone had personal experience of any or all of the above. If you had to choose one of the following Which would it be. I have test driven the Evoque Pure, and Q5 s-line and havent had a chance to drive the new model Touarge or X5 as yet,
Budget would be approx £30k and a keeper for approx 4 years
WHich would be the better buy
Evoque has no xenons or Nav that i drove and could pick up in 2 weeks
Q5 seemed v well put together, but the spec again wasnt the best, no geated seats, nav and bits and pieces like that
x5 a couple of years older but has probably everything you would want spec wise
and the touareg i have no idea about to be honest

I would go for the older but better specced X5, rather than the poverty spec Evoque. I like having all the toys in a car like that, and I'd rather buy one that someone else had taken the bulk of the depreciation on.
Your choice of cars is a bit weird though... like already said the Touareg is huge compared to the Evoque. I wouldn't have thought someone that was really considering one, would be looking at the other.

Something to plough the family in, albeit 2 and 4 year olds, so dont need 7 seats but would be a bonus on the odd occassion we would bring the inlaws, but def not necessary. We do quite alot of weekend touring, nothing major, but could clock up 200- 300 miles on the weekends on sunday jaunts
During the week it wouldnt be used for commuting
We do live at the bottom of a steep hill and during bad winters the current BMW does ( CANNOT ) not move more than 3 feet.

Evoque is small (very small compared to an X5 or Touareg) and going by what my friend is currently going through, quite badly made.... although the one I test drove did drive very nicely.
Im presuming with £30k to spend the X5 and Touareg will be 2nd hand?

Drove the XC60 a while ago, it was comfortable but a bit dull.
I like the idea of someone else takeing the hit, though with the newer evoque and touareg, the security of basically 3 years warranty still left is a bonus

Sounds like what we do and the Q7 (3.0 TDi) is just a dream for that purpose During the week it wouldnt be used for commuting

Extra luggage space won't hurt for those impromptu trips to IKEA either Love the new model Cayenne, though out of price range unfortunately
Drove the Q5 last week and it felt v nice, but was surprised by the lack of spec for a car that started off
at 38k, no nav, no heated seats, even little things like no cup holders in the rear armrest, no auto dimming mirrors etc, though there are probably ones out there with those to be fair.

A bit left field but Infiniti FX? Not for everyone but worth a look.
Just bought a 10 month old one with 3k miles for 31k with more bells and whistles than you can shake a handful of sticks at - monster stereo, intelligent cruise etc etc etc etc (given it's already dropped 23k from list it shouldn't hurt too much from here on in)
Nicely anonymous and a corking distance car - 33ish mpg. A big bus for golf money.

You would buy a motor purely on its looks?Personally I'd buy one of his bigger brothers that were a few years older and had lost the big chunk of it's value before I had it than buy a new poverty spec fashion accessory.
I'll give Land Rover one thing though, they sell well as you see them every bloody where rather like when the first Audi TT's came out. Still woudn't have or want one though.

5 door pure td4 4x4 manual, metallic paint, full leather, heated front seats, dual zone climate, excellent audio system, bluetooth, auto lights/wipers, front fogs.

I'd just far rather have a 1 year old better car, in higher spec, with less of a hit on the resale value. Unless you want to have a 62 plate and a 'new' car... then better spec and model for me every single time.
Just been in the same position with the same budget for the wife's new car.
We have an XC60 R design D5 215hp model with sat nav and a few extras on order, listed at a few pounds under 40k but secured a deal at 30k.
With that kind of reduction it helps with the VAT and year one depreciation.
