The tax on my car expired today. Im looking for a new car, and would like to sort a new one this week. I'll be trading mine in.
What risk is there driving without tax for a few days? I appreciate i'll get clamped if i park on a public road. Is it just worth taxing it, then trying to work tax on the new car into the deal?

Don't be tight, stick 6 months on it. If you are clamped/seized/fined etc it will probably be more trouble than It's worth besides you can always say the road tax is extra or you send it back for a refund.
In an accident your insurers may look to wriggle if your un taxed.
I don't think you get the old chestnut of a few days grace, I pass a couple of tax camera vans on a regular basis. Ask your self, what am I really saving?
A taxed car would be more attractive to potential buyers, its one less thing to deal with.

Back in 91 my uncle lost a sierra in this way, hit from behind and written off. The guilty drivers insurance statement said the 3rd parties vehicle should not have been on the road. Yes, that was the 90s and things may be different now.BFG TERRANO said:

Nope. No difference. If you hit an uninsured driver you still have to pay. Doesn't alter the issue of negligence and liability. Derp said:

It strikes me as somewhat odd that you would go onto the internet and declare to the world that you are considering taking the risk. As you are now identifiable, you have put yourself in a vulnerable position which makes it even more risky. For all the reasons stated by others, don't gamble IMO, it's just not worth it.
