Best route from Oxford to Stamford (near Peterborough)

Need to do the above trip tomorrow, with the minimum amount of fuss- and I can't see any good roads- all seems to be single carriageway.

Any tips- quiet dual carriageways would be nice.

In absence of any other posts, I'd suggest A34/M40/A43 out past Silverstone, to M1 J15a, south one junction to J15, off there onto the A508 and follow that out past Wellingborough.

I'm doing this off the top of my head and while some of it is single carriageway (out near Raunds), for the most part, its pretty quick roads.

M40, M25, A1 if you fancy motorways.

The A34 and A43 would be the route I'd take. Not sure I would class them as quiet though.

A34 M40 then A43 all the way to stamford

At some points the A43 is merged with other roads but just follow the A43 signs

IMO that will be the quickest and easiest route to follow

This is the route to take, a lot of it's dual carriageway until you reach Northampton then it's single carriageway for pretty much the rest of the way IIRC.

I used to leave A40 at Oxford, take A34 to Bicester, head up to Buckingham and then pick up A421 though MK to A1, seems more dual carriageway on maps than I when I last did it, many years ago used to be best way I found of avoiding M25 during rush-hour and get west of Oxford & back
