Was wondering on the way to work this morning why I have to show my tax disk in the Mini seeing as it is tax exempt?
Well not just the Mini but all 72 and earlier vehicles.

What is it showing? That I have paid no tax? Is there any point?

The Vehicle Excise & Registration Act 1994..

Probably a throwback to the pre-computerised days where the issue of a tax disc was the one time per year when a vehicle's insurance and MOT were actually verified.
