Just had one from Enterprise, a 'luxury' and driven to Manchester and back from Cambridge via the A628, what a car. Superb. Powerful, frugal, comfortable, brilliant chassis and steering, more toys than Toys R Us. Best car in the sector by a country mile

I've not driven the latest version, but I found the E90 to be decidedly poor in many of the respects that you mention - underwhelming chassis, poor steering, terrible ride,... is the new one orders of magnitude better?

Oh yes, chalk and cheese. I had just done a 350 mile round trip and didn't want to hand the keys back, how they get that torque from two litres is impressive. That was half a tank of diesel or £65 and I was caning it, I was chucking it into roundabouts as if it was an M5
