2008- 2011 SLK
Discussion
Morning all,
I'm considering an 3.0 or 3.5 slk as a daily driver. I know that the slk is not regarded as a drivers car but it ticks a lot of boxes in other areas.
I also hear that the 2008-2011 face lifted cars are pretty decent to drive.
I would be interested to hear from current owners or people who have driven this model. I would also be interested to hear your opinions on how it compares with the equivalent E89 BMW Z4.
I'll be looking for a car with a manual gearbox which I know are very rare.
Thanks in advance.

i don't like them personally, i'd have thought leasing a slk 250 cdi amg sport that's brand new, under warranty, needs no mot's and no hassle to buy or sell and will do more mpg could be a better bet given that you can lease them for £270 per month including vat.
it'll probably be as quick as well, looks much, much better and has a far better interior.
having said that the older slk's do look cheap.

Owned a Z4 3.0Si and been in an SLK 350 quite frequently. Wouldn't touch the SLK myself - had always read they were good and much improved, but in reality the interior feels below par and the engine sounds like an american rental car.
That may sound harsh, but the Z4 has so much more character in comparison, a much nicer interior (which I know people criticise as well, but owning one I thought it was great) and a much much better engine.
On the practical side - the Z4's boot is great, big with the top up or down!
