A chap around the corner from me goes through his V8 barges with some regularity. I've lived here for just under two years and so far he's had a XJ8, a Soarer and a V8 Jeep. However what I've been drooling over recently is his mint GS430. He tops the wax up every weekend, reseals the wheels if it's been out during the week and regularly changes small items. Recently it's had new suspension components and some very large brakes, all of which he's done in a couple of afternoons on his driveway. I'm told it is a doddle to work on with the right tools and some stands.

Anyway, today I asked how much he paid for it.

Bad move.

£1600. 87k miles. Perfect inside and out.

I've said to let me know if he ever wants to part with it and I'll give him £2k on the spot.

It looks pretty much like this apart from a very nice SS exhaust system and some black alloy wheels.

I quite like these cars. The interior is a nice place to spend time, and the super squidgy centre armrest is very comfy and well positioned imo.

That price does sound like a bargain too.

I always though the GS430 was a bit of a mis-step after the beautiful LS400. No doubt it is superbly engineered but they look downright ugly (and I love barges). The LS400 on the other hand is very smart and attractive. Glad to hear someone is enjoying a proper car though!
