Morning all.

Yesterday when parking at a pub I noticed a weird sound when engaging the clutch/loading a gear. It sounded as if one of my belts was running on some of the grass I was parked on (what I initially thought it was) but then after noticing it did it when leaving on the tarmac I started to fear it may be my release bearing.

The car has now become almost impossible to engage a gear at high RPM, and the clutch pedal feels totally different (hard to explain as it never quite felt normal since I've had it.

After getting to work this morning the initial noise has now gone, or is very quiet, and has been replaced by quite a nasty clutch judder.

As I do 50-60 miles a day the car is very important to me so I need to get it sorted asap. Has anyone experienced a similar fault and what was the solution?

Car is a 2000 UKDM Integra with 96k

Thanks
Dan

A fairly common thing for DC2's is the clutch plate to have a piece break off. Happened on mine and loads of others. Chances are yours has done the same. Which will require a new clutch.

Is that a common fault with the OEM clutch or just the DC2 in general?

Mine went at 114k. Its a £400 job at a garage. I had mine done at TGM. (top lads wholly approve!)

A grinding noise on any lock only when taking up drive? Mine was fine at speed.

The bits of metal that hold the springs in breaks. The grinding noise is the spring rubbing against the flywheel. Longer you leave it the more chance of damage to the flywheel.

I've found an OEM clutch for £160 and OEM gear oil quite cheap too.

It's DIY time! Just hope I can get it done in time for PH Big breakfast at Malton on Sunday.

Looks pretty worn though, at very least you've got a job out of the way. smile

How did the flywheel look?

Flywheel was spot on smile was kinda tempted to get a lightened one while I'm in there to be honest but pussied out.

That seems expensive, a clutch change on Civic/Integra is a piece of piss.

That sounds about right 160 quid for the clutch, im guesing 4 hrs labour at 50quid per hour is 200, gearbox oil then add vat on top sounds about right.

4 hours lol, I wish.

I've been getting home from work at about 6pm, and going to work straight on the car until bedtime each night this week. Nearly got it done now just the driveshafts to go back in and the rear engine mount smile

That would be for a garage with a lift and all the tools available to make a clutch change quicker.

I don't understand this, I helped a friend change the gearbox and clutch in his B16 engined civic (with aircon) and it took us less than 2 hours total on his driveway. Apart from my old Astra, it was one of the easiest clutch changes I've ever seen.

Not done many clutch changes but an old Cavalier was really quick to do
