Zafira B 1.6. Difference over interim and full service

Hi,

I had posted over on the VX forum, but need a urgent reply as goingback tomorrow

Can anyone tell me the difference, whats included over an interim service at a main VX stealer?

Paid for a major today, and they only completed a minor one. They changed the sparks plugs and Air filter, but its got to go back tomorrow, as its down on power. Just wonder if they had missed anything else...

Interim = oil and filter
Major = oil, all filters, plugs

But it really depends on what service schedule you're following and the mileage. The cambelt kits are due every 4yrs / 40k (whichever is first) as are the plugs and I'm sure fuel filters are every 20k and oil and filter every 1k. But as said, it can vary.

Generally what they do is offer a interim service then look at the history and mileage and would advise what needs doing over and above. Ie, plugs are due every 4yrs/40 as is the cambelt kit and I think (from memory) the fuel, pollen and air filters are every 20k but don't quote me on that.

So as said, depends on the age, year, mileage and service history. They should have discussed that with you and then either agreed what needs doing when you booked in or rung your to advise you that it needs X, Y and Z doing.

There's really no such thing as a minor or a major service these days - and even if there was, everybody has a different opinion of what each should include, including dealers and independents. Hence, always better to ask before you sign your car over.
