Selling advice websites & Times of year

Hi Guys,

Could those with good or bad experiences give me some advice on a the good places to advertise a car over 10k to get its true value and the best times of year to sell a car??

Time of year is dependant on car to some extent - 4x4 will tend to pick up as winter approaches, convertibles as summer come close etc.

Best place to advertise? Here actually. Sold maybe 7 cars here over the years and purchased a similar number via this site. Had a few morons call me about the cars but far lower than one gets anywhere else, not a single time waster came to look at the cars and both buyers and sellers I have dealt with have, without exception, been excellent. Personally, I can't be bothered to advertise anywhere else but to be fair, it does depend on the car to some extent.

Good pictures, correct spelling, be honest, be available to people for viewings but most of all be realistic about the price if you genuinly want to sell within a month, you will not get within 10% of one on a forecourt or 15% of one in a main dealer.

Autotrader isn't cheap but it's probably your best bet if it's a standard familly car, maybe try your local paper, gumtree or advertise it on here.

& Ebay classifieds. Not an auction, or buy it now, but a classifieds ad. Something like £12 for 30 days listing.

Price is everything to be honest - You can sell anything if it's priced right.

What he said! Unless you need to shift it fast I would give local paper, gumtree and here a shot before AutoTrader simply as AT is expensive and seems to get a lot of morons on it, but it clearly has the most users for a car sales site. Still, bought and sold some awesome cars through here and some really dull ones too, so I honestly don't bother with AT these days. Cant hurt to try it though.

Yeah thats the thing Autotrader is a lot more expensive than I remember!!! I was thinking Ebay but even their fees are getting quite high!!! Plus I've read its not that great for higher priced cars or to get a good price for it??

Exchange and Mart seems pretty good on price also but not sure how popular it is.

Do you think there are better months of the year to sell in general for cars other than convertibles and 4 x 4's?

I think I'll be adding it on here.
