I'm doing some car changing early in the new year and want to keep a convertible in the stable. Left field choice is an AC Cobra recreation by say Dax but the spec I'd likely want would come in at £30k+ even second hand, although it's still very tempting!
On the assumption that I only wanted to spend £15k, which of the above would you choose? £15k seems to get you into a good Z4M Roadster, but would also get you a lovely S2000 to which you could give the power it deserves.
I like the idea of the Beemer as the engine is a work of art, but, I also will likely go through an E46 M3 in the future so am tempted to wait until then.
I like the idea of the S2000 as I loved my one I had a while back, it's a bit different and the interior is now retro cool. With proper power and torque I think it's be a hoot. Downside is, you're never gonna get more than a fraction of your money back from the mods.
What would you do? And probably more importantly, why?!
ETA to clarify after GroundEffect's post: I'm not talking about body kits, phat wheels and the like for the S2k, literally just the engine/drivetrain

How about an elise, far more fun then either of those two.
Faster in the real world and will hardly lose any money. Cheep to run, won't use much fuel (can you tell I am please with mine!)

Good shout, but a little more impractical than I was thinking. This would be an every day car. I used an Elise daily a couple of years back and it does become a bit of a pain after a while. Not to get into this debate again but IME the S2K was a bit of a disappointment, which turned into a 'bit of a handful' when it was wet. I cant imagine a supercharger helping things. It's dead money unless you want a project to keep you busy.Mario149 said:

The Vauxhall **220 (sorry my mind has gone a blank) might be more practical. Not a fan of the Z4 styling and though I voted SC S2000, I probably wouldn't myself.
