My Poor RX8 due to a foreign lorry

Last night I had a run in with a polish lorry driver.

He changed lanes without looking on an Island and has caused some serious damage to my RX8.

She was mint both mechanically and body work.

Insurance are going to collect later hopefully but I cannot see her coming home.

I can see it been a pain though, given him been foreign. I got him to sign to say he was at fault. I haven't said this to the insurance as yet, do I just keep it on file or inform them.

Damage I can see.

Wheel
Tire
Arch lining
Front Bumper
Bottom Spoiler
Light
Small Radiator located infront of the wheel / behind the bumper
Plus there appears to be some crumpling behind the bumber / wing

Given the value of these now I suspect (dependant on age/ mileage) that you wont see it again.

Unless, you buy it back from the insurers and turn it into a track toy. Go on....

Its worth what 3k, on an 04 with 53k on it.

There are cheaper ones and there are more expensive ones at dealers.

Track toy would be nice but,

I have an of road toy, a 1yr old daughter and we have horses.

There is only so much time left to play after work.

Keep the salvage, use the insuance money to buy one with a blown motor (might be a couple around), transplant motor & sell damaged non-runner for spares/scrap.

Could be an option, just depends what they want for it I guess and if I can find the time to do what is suggested.

If it's as good as you say take a cash settlement and get a friendly bodyshop to repair it. Probably do it with a grand if you were careful and used some secondhand parts.

Silver lining, at least your are getting a cash in before the engine inevitably went pop. Sure, your premium will be loaded in future because of it, but surely it will be cheaper than the bill of replacing the engine when it went.
