Quick question re pink & blue Anti-freeze

Right, I have a Honda HR-V. Coolant needs topping up as it's on the minimum. The stuff in the expansion tank is bright pink. It was always serviced at Honda before I got it, so I assumed it was genuine Honda coolant. Anyway, I went to the Honda dealer and bought some more. Only this is blue. Can I mix them (I assume not)? If not, what type is the pink? Have googled but it doesn't seem exactly clear as the pink could just be a colour added by the manufacturer.

Usually different, you can get red an orange too. If you mix the wrong ones your headertank ( at least) can fill with sludge. Usually a dealer asks what colour you want.

I believe pink/orange/red coolant is modern longlife stuff with OAT (organic acid technology) as opposed to the traditional blue or green stuff. They can't be mixed AFAIK. See below for info :

As your car has always been serviced by Honda, I'd ring up the dealer and ask them. Maybe they've recently changed the formula.

Do not mix it!!!!!

You will end up sludging the system and having to get it flushed.

I have heard of BMW using cheap stuff for servicing, and only using the posh badged stuff you buy seperate if you specify.

-So you might want to ask them what they use for servicing.
