In my younger days I used to live in Brighton - no parking space so just used to drive around the warren of back roads looking for a spot and then walk back to our flat to enjoy a bottle of wine or night in the pub. I don't ever want to go back to the days of standing on the doorstep, brolly up against the pissing rain, headache on the way and thinking "right, where the f
k did I park that car last night" before setting off in normally the wroung direction for a 30+min wander around the area...
But 2 years is ridiculous! Saying that, I friend of my BIL worked in the square mile and bought himself a little moped to get about. Took it somewhere, ending up getting pissed and got a cab home. The next day he couldn't really remember where he had left it so had a wander, but to no avail. For the next week he continued to detour to places it could be but did not find it. After a week he declared it 'lost' - he'd only actually owned it 3 days before losing it!

Not quite on the same level - but my father is an idiot with a rubbish memory. Decades ago he parked his faded yellow Austin Mini into a open air car park for the day. He comes back at the end of the day to see the car not there, after hours of searching and most of the cars departing for the evening, he decides it must have been stolen and calls the police, logs it etc.
Weeks go past and my dad makes frequent trips to the car park to try and find it, before realising that there is an identical looking car park just down the road from this one, which is where his car was actually parked. Said car park was actually in view of the police building where he reported it stolen to - so obviously they hadn't been looking very hard for it, they could see it from their window...

Once worked for VAG group up in Milton Keynes many years ago, they used to do an annual audit of what was parked in all the car parks, you would be very surprised how many cars turned up that everyone denied any knowledge of. I know of one Seat Ibiza that sat there for a couple of years as no one could find keys for it etc and remember these cars were in effect brand new.
