Could Singer build a 911 for use in the UK?

As per the title really. Euromillions tonight so a bit of lottery dreaming. Whilst I am certain that Singer could do pretty much anything you needed; right hand drive etc. What would the DVLA have to say about it? Would it need an IVA test?, would it be registered as a new car? or would it simply not be allowed?

I was thinking exactly the same while reading Evo!
I'm sure you could temporarily export a UK registered right hand drive 964 from the UK, then ship it back and there wouldn't be a need for any test as it is still a 964, albeit a 964 with £250k spent on it....

Personally I'd go for the option to annoy the 911 purists and have a Rauh-Welt kitted one built

The only problem would be if they change the engine and box as it would highlight the mods to the DVLA. If they refurb the existing ones.... Thats why I wasnt sure.

Changing the engine and box wouldn't require re-registering, you don't need to tell the DVLA about a gearbox and the engine isn't considered a major part in terms of registration

I haven't read EVO yet... what did they think of the Singer?

As cool as these old 911s are I have to say a used GT is where the relative bargains are to be had. Of course they are designed for different markets really.

I have already checked this out with Singer a few months ago. What you would do is export a British registered car to the USA in the same way you would do if you were taking your car touring in the USA. This would allow you to keep the car in the USA for up to a year. Singer can then carry out any mods you like. You then need to bring the car back before the end of the year. There is the possibility you could be made to pay import charges on the work that has been done to the car if customs recognise that the car is not as it left the UK. Is that likely, I think not

As the car will still have a UK registration re-importing will not be an issue. The only thing you will have to do is inform your insurance company about the mods prior to driving the car in the UK and get the car revalued
