I gave my car a clean today, polished windows etc. then I gave my windscreen a coat of this...

I've just been out, lashing down with rain and only really used my wipers when traveling slow. Anything over 40/50mph, the rain hits the screen and just turns into tiny beads and clears straight off.

I've also tried some of their polishes with great results.

Rain-x lasts about a week, Gtechniq lasts up to around 30,000 miles, and you get enough solution to do a large windscreen twice, for £15. ( My Leon windscreen is massive and it will do that twice)

RainX is about £10 a pop and will do about 3,000 miles if that.

no longer called that, its G5 now. does work well though, far and away the best windscreen treatment....so much better that Rainex its untrue.

I also like the C1 paintwork treatment, makes cleaning a doddle.....poor old wax (FKP1000)doesn't get used anymore...

Used the Carlack Glass Cleaning Kit in the past. Very impressive stuff.

Agree that RainX only lasts a few weeks per application. I used to use a much better product made by Bluebird that came in a pink plastic dildo. It lasted ages, had excellent repellant qualities, and the other half could use the container when it was empty. I'll keep a lookout for this new stuff, though.

i agree with the comments about Rain-x. The wiper on the elise is rubbish, Rain-x sorted that for about a month, then it was back to normal

I used Rain X when it first came out, so long ago (I think it was late 80's ?). My lasting memory of that stuff was that it did bead the water and then run off but the moment you put the wipers on it turned my windscreen into what can only be described as frosted glass.
It took me ages to get the crap off!

I assume in the many years that have passed it has improved?

Might try some of the stuff suggested by OP, especially with the rain season upon us.

Its about 6 months since I have used my wipers - I use Autobrite Repel - Rain X is utter cr*p compared to some of the other products that are available
