You have a 1994 MX5 1.6 and a 1999 Toyota Corolla 1.6 sitting on the drive. Both are mint condition, reliable, both have air con.
You want to do your annual trip down to the south of France... You have used the Corolla several times to do this.... But now you also have an MX5....
Which would you take on the trip?
Another car is not an option before you all start saying get another car!!

Im posting this from Malcesine, Lake Garda, having just driven my 1993 MX5 down here for the week from Bournemouth....Worth every second despite the inclement weather most of the way down here on Thursday.You want to do your annual trip down to the south of France... They're not great, but it's still just about top-down weather if you want to pack a coat and take the N-roads (maybe with a stop en route).
That said, I go to Le Mans every year for work and each time I've left my fun car in the garage and taken something more civilised down the autoroute.
Maybe the deciding factor is how much interesting driving you'll get to do when you're there? Some nice twisty Mediterranean roads and an MX-5 sounds rather fun.
When you drive down the Corrola down there you will not miss the MX5 but when you get there in the Corrola you will be pining for the it.
It's 19 and sunny in Marseille today, every mile from that point will be wasted in the Corrola.
Do the right thing, take the MX5.

We went down to the south of France for 2 weeks in August. Could have taken the Leon with air con, more space, better MPG, better comfort etc. Took the MX-5 instead and loved it. There were only a couple of times when it was too hot and we wished we were in something more sensible.
I guess at least this MX5 has air con...a few years ago we did the trip in a Citroen ZX with no air con... boy it was hot...decisions decisions... I guess at the end of the day the MX5 is only £1500....

Tripe. 50'000 miles in MX-5's as my only car tells me that. 75-80 all day long, no problem. A Corolla is hardly the last bastion of high-speed crusing comfort is it.
In a Corolla, its a drive you'll do before you get to your holiday.
In the Mazda, Holiday starts when you leave home.
No brainer.
