chassis / rollcage painting - advice required

gents,

i am in the process of rebuilding my gts clubman [locost type kit car] and the next job is painting the chassis/rollcage. this will be sandblasted to bare metal prior to paint,

i would like advice on what paint system to use and how many layers of each type. rust prevention isn't an issue [i am in the middle east] but i do want something hard wearing and high build. in a matt black finish,

i can have the job done professionally including oven cure but i am finding that the [super cheap] indian owned outfit i want to use have less clue than i do when it comes to paint selection. i would like to go out and buy the paint for them to apply.

any ideas?

Can you not get it it powder coated Matt black?

I'd powder coat, but if that's not possible, POR 15.

I decided against powder coating as its is impossible to touch up to the right thickness and hard to detect stress cracks.

Por 15, well i dont need the rust protection and i read it can be hard to apply. Also i doubt i can buy it locally.

In strict readily available automotive/marine paint systems, what would you go with?

At the moment i am thinking chip resistant high build primer, 2xcoats of black and a matt lacquer layer to finish. Only what paint to use??

I painted my own kit car frame useing the standared primer, paint 2 pack and lacquer used on car bodies. You can get an air compressor, and kit to be able to spray for under 200 quid i already had it so sprayed mine myself.

And with your locost having body work around it doesn't need to be perfect as it's all covered.
