MGF Car hoods

I'm overseas and need to buy a hood for my 1996 MGF, but - while all the websites of Rimmers, Prestige, MGOC, Car Hood, etc. sound good - I don't want to buy a dodgy badly-made hood and be stuck with it! They vary quite a bit in price. Any to avoid or are all those mentioned pretty good?

I have always used Carhood Warehouse in Chessington ( opp the Theme Park) for Hood Replacement/ Rear Screens etc. Have been very impressed with the products/ service and price. I recently had the whole roof replaced on the 3 series and it is definitely as good quality as the original. Can't speak highly enough about them

Thanks! I'll try the Car Hood people. No comments on the other brands so I guess they do not impress hugely.
Know the area - spent the first 25 years of my life nearby. I guess Chessington Zoo has changed a bit used to be tatty but fun (especially the dodgems!).

I got a good quality second hand one from a local breaker on Ebay.

Failing that MGF Mania have a good rep on the forums too - http://www.mgfmania.com/ and offer fitting.

Make sure you get one with a lip sewn on to the edge above the door windows as it forms a rain gutter and stops water pissing in the top of the window. The early hoods didn't have it.

I have had 2 hoods for our MGF's from BAS international and the quality is very good. They have offices outside of the UK too, so you may even find one a bit closer to you.

Thanks all! I've ordered from Car Hood Warehouse - hope it has those rain gutters ...
Not very many MGFs in Hong Kong so no chance of a decent hood at the breakers (actually I bought the MGF at a breakers here for 640 quid equivalent - but with no suspension). Ebay is a bit problematic here: the local version is in Chinese, and few sellers in the UK or wherever want to send their stuff halfway across the world!
Why doesn't this site let one see the correspondence one is replying to - while replying? Short-term memory problems!
