Following service interval based on mileage not annually?

Looking at a few replacement cars and a number I have looked at state full service history, but this is based on mileage not necessarily annually.

Service book states annually or 10k, does this make a difference, does it matter?

They generally say annually or 10k which ever comes around first.

Would you want a car that has done 30k miles in a year not to get a service until that year is up.

More is better.

Big one that springs to mind is cambelt; make sure that has been done on time if it hasn't reached the miles. I got stung when I bought my gf's Fiesta, it was two years overdue it's cambelt (but 30k short of the interval) This was despite a full main dealer history, so it's worth checking what exactly has been done.
