General opinion on the Vx 1.9 cdti 150 engine?

Im looking at getting a diesel, mainly due to the miles im doing, and my 24mpg petrol is causing damage to my wallet. It's also got a fair few faults and needs to go.

I've seen a 2006 1.9d vectra, with 58k on and priced at £5k. Seems reasonable and has sat-nav as an option.

Opinion on these cars? I've only really got a 6k budget max, need something with reasonable miles and less than 5-6 years old.

I really would have liked a 320 or 330d, but cannot find one which is priced to budget for age and miles.

I hear the 1.9d will easily get 45mpg. I read some things that say the engine is crap, and others that say it's very good. There's no concrete answer on timing belt intervals either, but it appears to possibly be 100km/60k (however i read that this engine has tendancy to throw the belt off at 40k!!)

It's from a main stealer, i dont have any info on service history yet, but can bet it's not been done yet. Is there a chance of working this into a deal do you think?
