Hi all
My first post, so i thought id start with a question
Iv just sold my Ford Focus St170, brought from a PHer and now waiting on a 350z which should be prepped and ready by the end of the week (hopefully sooner). After looking for months for my next upgrade through the many options I had. Finally found the car I liked, test drove it twice and went over the car paperwork like a hawk. Full service history and serviced every 4000 miles, right so here is my money and ill wait for it.
Since then I cant sleep, im literally soo excited, i know its nothing like some of the machines you guys/girls have but for my first sports car, I can hardly contain myself, actually started dreaming in cars, more than usually.
So what was it like when you had that first sports car, where you as excited or shall I base this excitement on my age of 25?

I bought my first performance car last year, and I can completely relate to your post!
I had to wait a while before taking delivery because it was a mate of my Dad's selling, and he was umming and ahhing over a new vehicle. So I said "If you're selling can I have your MG?" - so from that point it was crossed fingers time and wait - thankfully it all worked out, and glad I waited for that particular vehicle.

I always have a sleepless night when a new car in on the horizon, even if its a dull one!
That said I can still recall the first drive of the mk1 MR2 I bought in 1994, for which I sold my AX GT. silly things like popping the headlights, and repeatedly stalling in the gravel car park of the adam & eve pub in Norwich

I remember picking my first MX-5 up, and driving it from Liverpool to Leeds.
It was a low, loud and noisy one, Mk1. It was pissing it down, dark, and it was the first non-hatchbacky type car I'd had. I nearly shat my pants with excitement, it was, genuinely, a thrilling drive.

For me, the run up to getting a new car is the closest thing to how I used to feel as a kid on Christmas eve. The only problem is that it's a lot more expensive than Christmas and therefore can't be done annually.
I definitely struggled to get off to sleep the night before I picked up my 350z.

I can remember picking up my Elise a few years ago, also aged 25. It was a long week waiting to go an pick it up on the Friday afternoon!
Finally got to drive it the 120 miles home and remember feeling like I was in a race car, watching the front wings bobbing up and down and literally pinching myself that I'd finally got my dream car!

I get that feeling just thinking about a potential purchase! Wreaks havoc with my married life!

Good on ya!! I brought my first sports car in 2008 when I was 21. It was a vx220 and it was great. From when I first went to look at it I couldn't sleep. Kept day dreaming about what it will be like to own a proper mid engined sports car.
I have recently sold it to buy a caterham 7 for my 25th birthday present to my self and it was the same feeling before picking that up. Lack of sleep and the days leading up to picking it up just dragged.

I was about 36/37 when I got my first real hooliganly quick car, an E34 540i. Was like a kiddie coming up to Christmas waiting to collect it. Smiled every time I started it with its woofly stainless system. Loved it for the smoothness, power and noise.
Not quite the same getting the Jag as it was a step down but still excited the day I picked it up
