New Cascada - not completely disgusting?

However, the new Vauxhall Cascada looks...ok. I know it's not entirely an Astra, merely based on something in between that and the Insignia, but it really does lack the awkward arse-out look that so typifies the old focus/megane/206 CCs and their ilk. It's actually pretty purposeful from the front.

It's by no means a head-turner, and choosing a soft-top over a hard-top makes stowage a lot easier, but I do think it's more attractive than any of the previous attempts by volume brands to make a luxury-looking convertible. Not planning to buy one or anything...

The Astra CC looks pretty decent too and the Eos isn't bad. I think the fundamental problem comes when they try to use two-piece roof structures rather than three or four.
However, this appears to have a fabric roof, and there have been plenty of better looking fabric-topped cars in this sector in the past.

I think it looks really good. The chrome beltline running all the way round is a nice touch. The interior looks better than the Insignia (although conceptually similar, with clear re-use of components).
In fact it wouldn't surprise me if many of the components turn up on the next Insignia; some, such as the tail lights, are clearly based on the Insignia design, but appear better resolved.

Arse is too big, front is too pointed. Saab 93 was similar, as someone said. Reminds me of Renault and particularly Peugeot's attempts at making ccs or cabs. Never looked right.
4-seater cabs need to have a balance between front and rear and the profile needs to appear flat. Think of the E46/E93 cabs, or the Audi A4/A5 cabs. Flat from front to back.
The small, low, front rising along the profile to a fat, high, arse looks entirely wrong to my subjective eyes.
So it'll probably sell like hot cakes and be two-a-penny on the roads.

I probably wouldn't buy a Vauxhall either, but only because they don't currently make any cars that I even remotely like.
