v8 saloons

A gander through the classifieds brings up a few fairly recent, quick saloons. Just wondered on the relative merits of each.

- E90 M3
- Lexus IS F
- Merc C63 AMG
- Audi RS4
- Vauxhall VXR8

so, have I missed any worthy contenders? Which one would you have and why? They all seem to hover around the £25k mark (maybe more, maybe less) for a relatively lightly used example...

I'd probably take the M3 though, with the manual 'box.

Vxr8, my mate had one the surge at 80+ mph when he nailed it was amazing as a motorway car they are in another league!

the above and your list are all very different cars, huegely competent M3 to balls out grin of the VXR8 - I would have thought a 25k VXR8 would a lot newer and less miles than the M3/RS4. Also if your after a saloon are you after 4 or 2 door and does that matter, some of the above are not available/hard to find in 4 door.

this is a somewhat theoretical exercise, but I think it would stretch to the 4.2...

E90 M3 is hardly rare

Add the Merc CLS55/63 to the list, along with the 300C SRT-8, BMW 550/740/750, Alpina B5, Porsche Panamera, Lexus GS/LS 430/600, Jaguar XF (SV8 or XFR) and XJ etc etc...

for £25k, you have a massive choice, leggy XFR/C63 though. My money would go on either a VXR8 Bathurst S or and E90 M3 with EDC and DCT

That would be the SV8, not an XFR. But they are still meant to be good.
Ive always wanted an IS-F so thats what id pick.

I needed exactly the same and went the VXR8 route 18 months ago and don't regret it one bit.

Also picked it up for nearly half your £25k figure!
