F1 for the first time?

My son (14) is a big F1 fan, so now its about time we went to an F1 race. So, where do we start...

How do I buy tickets?
What tickets should I get (are there good/bad tickets)?
Which is the best one to see (that can be done in a weekend)? my son likes the Spa track, so thats a good option.
What about accomodation, I'd assume its a nightmare to book anything on race weekend?
Oh and finally does anyone own a flat in Monocco they would lend us for the race weekend

Loads of threads on this. I've done Silverstone and Monza, Monza being the better by a long way

Fly to Milan Linate airport (Ryanair, cheap) and stay in Bergamo. Train available to the track, accommodation cheap and a good circuit.

Monza is special, no doubt. But imo Spa is better, and much easier to get to by car to keep it cheap.

You should be able ot get flights for under £200 for two, factor in tunnel, fuel, breakdown and running costs and is a car that cheap? Spa also has accommodation issues and I'd not fancy camping in that weather.

I did Monza in 2008 with the flights at £38 return!

Monaco. Grandstand seats overlooking the harbour and swimming pool. Get seats as high as you can for the best view. He'll never forget that.

The seats are expensive but there are plenty of places to stay outside Monaco and the train service (eg. to Nice) along the coast is very good indeed and not packed or even busy like you might expect.

If you can, get there a few days early because the atmosphere is fantastic.

I read a lot about these when they were introduced, seems like an outstanding idea!

The biggest trouble with being at any race live is that you can't be everywhere - except at Brands Hatch or Rockingham, of course - so especially if you're already at a high-value event like Monaco, it'd be well worth having.

Have been to Silverstone & Monaco.

Silverstone is great as its obviously the home GP. Good views of the track etc and and see a good amount just with a general admission ticket.

Went to Monaco this year with some other PH'ers and it was fantastic. Had grandstand seats by the swimming pool/harbour - section P I think. To be honest although the view was good you can only see a very limited section of the track due to the nature of the circuit. Not the most exciting race to watch live but the atmosphere was fantastic and would definitely go again.

Plenty of accommodation outside Monaco (we stayed in Nice) but prices are ramped up for the GP weekend and really need to book very early - like now.
Excellent train links all along the coast to Monaco.

As suggested, if you want to follow the race properly while there then consider renting a FanVision.
