Bargain future classics?

I was just wondering what cars have reached the bottom of their depreciation curve and are set to appreciate in the future. I remember buying my first quick car (a tidy Peugeot 205 GTi) for £1800 10 years ago. Now a tidy 205 GTi seems to cost at least £4000. Also, other cars that I considered at the time have shot up in value since then such as XR Fords, Capris, mk1 Golf GTis, 5GTTs, Saab 900 Turbos etc. I even considered a mk2 Escort RS2000 (mk1 and 2 Escorts are crazy money now)!

I have a theory that most cars hit their depreciation dip when they get between 10-15 years old. I also think that with the trend towards smaller engines and turbocharging, larger-engined, naturally-aspirated cars may be set to appreciate, as long as they were desirable in the first place. Here are a few that seem to be quite good value at the moment. I can't see them getting much cheaper and I think they may even start to appreciate over the next few years provided they are kept in good condition.

Peugeot 406 Coupe, shirley? They've hit pretty much rock-bottom pricewise. Minters can only go up in value as time goes on.

Some good suggestions there but I'm not convinced that the mk1 MR2 and Z3M haven't started appreciating already. Have 147 GTAs reached their dip yet? They still fetch quite good money from what I see.

MG Z cars? Again, can you seriously see these rising in value?

Alfa Romeo 155. In the right spec they can be very quick, they were only available with petrol engines in this country (oh, how times change!), and their image screams 'BTCC'.

Very thin on the ground now, a lot have been banger-raced, so the remainder have been snaffled up by the Alfisti.

Now the CSCC has introduced a race series for '90s road classics (CSCC Modern Classics), expect to see a lot of the V6 versions heading for the track. And winning.
