Petrolhead next door neighbour

Does anyone here have a next door neighbour that shares the same passion as you do in cars. The only reason I ask is that the house next door to me is for sale, and a couple came round to view it this morning and the gent driving had a gleamingly clean white prodrive Mazda rx8 complete with a good wood sticker in the window from this year.

He obviously likes his cars and hopefully wouldn't mind my caterham firing up on a early Sunday morning to depart for an ss. Unlike the other neighbour.

So does anyone have a neighbour that loves cars like you do. And what do they drive?

I'm not 100% on this one but a neighbour occasionally brings out what looks exactly like a Aston DB4. Looks great and sounds great, not entirely sure on it being a real one though, seems real to me though .

So yes, you could say they are a petrolhead!

I live in a small Terrace on a hill in the middle of nowhere in Cornwall. There is a rich heritage of petrolheaded neighbours over the years, from bikers to mx, racing mini's and off roaders.

As long as your not out there at stupid o'clock being a dick testing engines and stuff, it's all good. It's great, I'm frequently lending/borrowing spanners and tools of my neighbours.

No. Astra one side, Fiesta the other. Astra bloke has commented on how well kept my 900 is though.

All up and down the road it's a sea of Corsas and Quasquais. Couple of mx-5s driven by middle-aged women with the roof up. Reckon they all think I'm nuts. Maybe they have a point.

Most my neighbours like stealing cars if thats the same...guess they do like them though!

Next door is a car guy but he likes stuff like Supras and stuff that I'd call a bit chavvy..

That's up to him though, we can have a good chat, he knows a lot of stuff and understands the types of car i like.

Not my direct neighbours, but there is another 350Z, a GT86 and a VX220 in my estate close by. There's also a pair of skinhead type blokes which look like they could be brothers who are ALWAYS talking to each other in their garages every day, have had some nice metal - a couple of MCSs, CTRs and now a quad bike!

One guy up the road had an immaculate AC Cobra kit car which he would fire up at the weekends. His wife forced him to sell though as it never actually went anywhere. Now he just has to make do with an RS6. Poor sod.

But considering the number of people that live around here, there aren't very many with nice, well looked after motors. Most of them are dirty school buses or plain oil burners.

Not my road however on my dog walk, 2 roads from me there is a guy with an S4 Audi convertible and a 993, however in his garage is a lovely immaculate 911 of around 70's vintage I've never seen it on the road I've only ever seen it being polished.

A few doors up from 911 guy is a Morgan of some description too.

Next door has a panamera, his son visits occasionally in a dino246 or 458. also seen a green cayman there before. Not sure if he's really a petrolhead though, he keeps himself to himself, what with being scottish and all

a few doors down has a lovely black 964 which I see very occasionally, pretty sure it's up for sale though. I also know of a lady who likes her classic alfas (we're talking prewar) and has at least one in the garage

Neighbour on one side is into bikes, has an Aprilia & Ducati at the moment. Other is into older cars, series 1 Landy, vw camper, Mgtc & Citroen light 15. So don't have any problems, other than ending up chatting for ages.

I've worked on most of them, and all the owners are a real pleasure to speak to and generally be around. I was sort of amazed that I got accepted into their little circle when I turned up in the village with a BMW E28 and big talk about some day owning a proper classic/vintage car.

I've got a traffic officer on one side and a Nissan Leaf owner on the other, they have me surrounded!

Actually to be fair they are both nice blokes and don't complain at the constant grinding, hammering and revving up that goes with my hobby.

Not at my house, my next door neighbours drive the usual generic transporters, Volvos and Toyota shopping hatches etc. The bloke I bought my house off had an Impreza STi hatch (one of only two I've ever seen on the road) and even left some tatty Impreza mats in the garage. A bloke on the other side of one of my neighbours has an old Elise which he keeps garaged but I occasionally see on the street, and another bloke has an Astra VXR, which he washes religiously.

The neightbours at my parent's house were petrolheads of sorts. They didn't own any fas/lightweight/expensive netal, but they would come out and talk to me whilst I was washing or tinkering with my cars (over the years, Astra Coupe Turbo, Nissan Skyline R33 and Honda Integra Type-R).

The neighbours at my old house in St Albans weren't petrol heads, although the chap ho lived to the left owned a brand new Golf GTI. PH member UH-Matt lived opposite, I guess he counts as a petrolhead!

One set of neighbours at my current house are a typical 2.4 children family with 2 Chelsea tractors, the family on the other side own a couple of classic Land Rovers so they're good to chat to.
