Did u like it? What was the sound like? On YouTube they whine a lot. Is the power deliver exciting?

I did. 1.6 mk1 with 165bhp. It offered up a very useful power increase with a great soundtrack. The power delivery was linear so not particularly "exciting" in its own right, if you want lumpy shove-you-in-your-seat power delivery then a turbo would offer this.

Owned one (but different cars) continuously over the last 15 yrs.

Yes - I've never kept a car over 6 months before.

There is a very audible whine on hard acceleration but it's un noticeable when pootling around.

Depends what you're used to but not really, they deliver in a very linear way like a 2.5 / 3 litre NA car so feel slower than a similar powered turbo but that's because the turbo has no power, no power, no power, POWER which IME makes it harder to drive fast.
