Fuming at the moment. I changed cars part way through policy - no problem - only documentation required was mileage declaration: closing mileage on old and opening mileage on new.

This was due back with them by 13/10/12.

Now admittedly I was a bit slow getting it back but it was sent, first class on the 9 October (I know the date cos I took a note on the PC of the mileages).

Fast forward to yesterday when I receive a letter dated 13/10/12 stating they had not recd the declaration and have cancelled the policy wef 20/10/12 (yesterday!!).

Apparently I have to surrender the certificate within 7 days or I will be committing a "serious offence".

Far as I can see I've done nothing wrong here - aside from having a stand up row on the phone on Monday I can't see a way forward. Not the first time Flux have given me issues around receipt of paperwork.

Would appreciate any advice if anyone's been in a similar predicament.

My policy is based on limited mileage (with A.F) and I had a few letter through saying I need to send proof or else. I called them saying sorry for the delay but I'll get it done. They said that I could do it over the phone there and then, so I did.

I don't know why they didn't tell me I could do this in the fist place!

Don't blame Adrian Flux straight away - it sounds more like the Royal Mail cocking up a couple of times in this situation.

Is there not a facility to email them the information? That sounds like it would be a sensible idea on their behalf.

Don't use them as had a quote this year online of £290 and an email saying to phone because they could improve on it. Phoned them to get better quote and suddenly the quote from them was over £650! Told them it was a joke and went elsewhere.

Did you send the document by a signed for / trackable mail service?

If not, then how do you know it has arrived and that, therefore AF is to blame?

They have to uphold the offer given to you, assuming all details were entered correctly. So don't put up with the bull they give you on the phone!

Ended up getting a better offer anyway, so I'm not worrying about it now.

I was with them on 3x motors for years. Last year, they were a bit too expensive so I went elsewhere. This year, I tried again: even more expensive! On my RRC they wanted more than everyone else for 3rd party only when everyone else was fully comp.

Is anyone still insured with them?

No I didn't send it recorded delivery, but then they didn't send the cancellation recorded delivery either - perhaps I should've just pretended I hadn't received it!

As the notice of cancellation has been issued - albeit received exceptionally late - is there anyway the policy can be reinstated?

All I hear is bad things about AF. Are they actually competitive?

Never for me.

The simple answer is don't use them.

Here's a crazy answer....now bear with me it's a bit out there....ready?!

Give them a call and explain the situation. I can guarantee there'll be no stand-up arguing needed, just a simple explanation that you were a little slow in getting paperwork to them.

Once you've done that pop back on here and tell us how you got on.

wink

Whenever I deal with anyone possibly incompetent like insurers, DVLA, banks, councils etc, etc, I always send everything recorded. It's no extra cost to avoid people like this losing it or pretending they never had it.

Last time I had to send proof of no claims it was enough for me to photograph it with my phone then email it to them with my policy number in the subject. Done and dusted in minutes.
Granted this wasn't with AF though

They were £90 cheaper than the next cheapest quote for me.

I just like the way your thread is currently sat just below the stickied Adrian Flux thread.
Funny.
