Best online personal plate dealer

Hi,

Apologies if this thread has already been started elsewhere, but I've searched and couldn't find anything.

I'm interested in buying a personal plate (or whatever they are properly called). I want the cheapest I can find. All I want to do (for right or for wrong) is to hide the age of my car and I'm not all that bothered what the plate actually is. I don't need it to spell anything or become some close approximation of my name. Apologies to all who find this hiding of a car's age objectionable. I'm not even sure whether I find it objectionable or not.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a company that they've done business with. please? Or perhaps the DVLA are the best people to go with? Any advice is appreciated.

Why "hide the age " of your car?
If you need to, try dvla.

Years ago, you could pick up Irish plates for £89, that's 3 letters and 4 numbers, dunno if they would still be that cheap now though.

Dozens on dvla for £250 including fee, however none are dateless

If you're just after something dateless where the letters/numbers aren't important get a cheap irish plate off ebay. Search for one where the transfer fee is included.

.... then, since everyone can recognise the NI plates by the tell-tale appearance if the letter "I" (not used on mainland) you can be easily identified as a cheapskate.

Chack out "Parts & Plates" in the classifieds right here on PH. Real mixed bag.

For instance if your name is "Rebecca" how about "R183ACA" for just £400? Can't resist a bargain like that!

Because people want others to be impressed and think "nice car", rather than be unimpressed and think "nice car but it's 10 years old". Vanity? yes. But hey, we're all guilty of that to some extent.

More of a cheapskate than someone who spent nothing? Not everyone realises that an 'I' means a Northern Ireland plate (PHers excluded). NI plates are cheaper than equivalent GB plates, and you achieve the objective of removing the date. And you can spend a little extra and get a very short NI plate, which looks even better.
