which to choose

For the last few weeks I have been casting around for a winter hack, I spend a fair amount of time driving around the north east, so over the winter my morgan is probably not the best option
today there are 2 cars on my radar, I have set my budget at about £1k, and would ideally like a decent amount of mot and tax. And a tow bar would be helpful to save having to put one on our cherokee (my last winter hack had one, and I periodically tow my boat, and have a hitch mounted cycle carrier)
option 1: 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.5 V6 petrol auto
option 2: 1999 Jeep XJ cherokee, 4.0l petrol auto (with an LPG conversion)
I have run an XJ cherokee before and I like them a lot, presumably the lpg would make it cheaper to run than standard petrol, are there any issues with lpg with XJ's?
would the suzuki be a more sensible option? (it is a little cheaper, as a private sale versus the jeep at a dealer)
